Michelle had been thinking about doing a “jump the shark” joke for a while now, and one night at 3 AM she and I discussed the idea. I suggested using a different interpretation of the words, and came up with the idea for today’s comic. We both laughed. It was a very silly idea, and it was very funny at 3 AM. But would it be funny the next day?
The next day — rested, refreshed, not in a silly mood at all — we reviewed the idea and it was still funny. So we decided to run with it. Michelle edited the dialogue — I could have never come up with the phrase “old chap”. We hope you like it, even if it isn’t 3 AM where you are right now.
