I wanted to do this strip because this is EXACTLY what happened yesterday. You all know I’ve been struggling with writer’s block. Well I did have the mid-week strip done…but the script got deleted. Took me forever to reconstruct it, and lost a good joke or two. Okay, I could’ve handled that. So, I managed to get 2 strips done yesterday and literally was 5 minutes away from posting them when the power went out. No, we didn’t have storms or anything, just a freaky thing. It was out for several hours, and when it did come back up we were in the middle of other stuff I couldn’t stop in order to upload the strips. *sigh* The universe really is out to get us. Ah well, so, I decided to do this little bonus filler strip for the lolz.

Again, thanks to everyone for your patience. My block is slowly getting better.

##m This has been Jim’s project for the last couple of weeks. While I may be the artist, he is also an artist, but more on the technical front. For a deviantART contest, he created a smiley version of Donkey Kong, complete with smiley Mario, DK, and Pauline (Mario’s girl before Peach came along). He won the contest and actually received a Daily Deviation on the piece today. A “DD” is a sitewide feature of your art–which is impressive since deviantART has a few million members.

Since this piece was generated using my graphics and code written by Jim, I came up with the silly idea of doing a BMW version with Mr. Smiley as Kong and Harry and Dott as the hero and damsel-in-distress. It took another couple of days of work, but here it is. I am so happy with it. I simply love the thought of this giant evil Mr. Smiley and Harry off to save Dott. In some ways it reminds me of the video, Code Monkey by Jonathan Coulton.

Well, everybody in the house is sick, including Michelle and myself. The flu is hitting a lot of people in our area right now due to the weather. But we’re still doing the comic, have no fear about that.

December 14, 2010: Today is Monkey Day. Over the past few years, we have done a special strip to celebrate. This year, even though we started a new storyline, I wanted to do a strip anyway. So, here it is.

This is really a bonus strip and not in the continuity. Or perhaps it is and Harry and the gang are back at work the next day with no explanation. Lots of shows do that. *giggle* Either way, this will end up in our bonus section.

Now, for the big news. Our next update will be a Booyah! Yes, we haven’t had one of those in a while. We’ll be posting several comics, plus the results of our deviantART contest, and at least 1 other goodie. Our thanks for your patience through this past rough spot and a jumpstart into getting back on track for the new year.

September 10, 2010: Instead of a regular comic today, we’re offering a filler comic I made using the comic maker. I hope you like it.

We apologize for the lack of a regular comic. Right after our visitors left, we began rebooting our largest site, and we’re in the middle of converting over 400 pages. The comic will be back on track in the next few days.

We’ll have a comic on Saturday, but we’re still running behind.

July 29, 2010: As we have mentioned here in the comic before, Michelle is a migraine sufferer. Anyone who deals with chronic migraines knows they are not only painful, but can last several days in a row. Michelle has been fighting one for the last few days. This actually wasn’t a hinderance to her art, but to her writing. Pushing pixels isn’t that thought-intense. Get the dialogue and timing down when you can barely think straight is the difficult part. We didn’t want to skip another issue (we still have one to make-up from a while back), so I decided to do this filler. Hopefully she’ll feel better and have the strip up tonight or tomorrow.

The filler was done using the Build-Your-Own-Comic template. But I tweaked the graphics a bit to work with this strip and used our standard BMW font for the wording.

I should note, and we’ve mentioned this before, that while our storylines are mapped out ahead of time, oftentimes the actual script dialogue is written shortly before the comic is done. Plus, due to the limited nature of the strip, even when we have a full script, oftentimes lines must be changed, edited, tweaked to fit within the panels. Michelle does a nice job of all of that….when she isn’t nursing a migraine.

As always, this strip will be moved to our bonus section once the real strip is posted.

April 29, 2010: This is just a filler comic until we get back on schedule. Michelle has been very busy at work lately. Unfortunately, working late nearly every night leaves her very little time to work on the comic.

We’ll make it up to our fans by posting 3 comics between now and Saturday. Not sure if it will be two Friday and one Saturday, or some other arrangement, but our goal is a total of 3.
